Zionsharfe(Songs for the Praise of God)
Back to Hymnology
In 1974, two further editions followed in Switzerland, which were completely revised. New songs were added, rarely-sung songs were omitted. The new hymnal was called "Zionsharfe" (Songs for the Praise of God). It contains 293 songs that have been regrouped and numbered. As a result of these significant changes, these editions have not been used in the non-ETG congregations, where the twelfth edition has continued to be used. In 2016, a thirteenth edition was completed and the German-speaking churches began to use the new edition. The thirteenth edition was expanded to include music with every hymn as well as the all of the hymns from the Heft and Alte Lieder, bringing the total number of songs for the hymnal up to 405. Other changes include the update of old, unknown terms with their common synonyms as well as the conversion of the font to Latin letters and the attachment of an index of hymns at the end of the book.
