Church Splits.

Known as the Anabaptist disease, church splits over sometimes trivial matters is a sad thing. This page is not meant to judge, condemn, or excuse any group.

1904-1907: The ACCA and ACCN divided over cultural differences. This is known as the Mustache split, but there were other factors at play, most of them we would laugh at today, but the clash between German and Slavic traditions, along with a struggle between ex-Mennonite and people of other faith backgrounds was not easy for them to handle.

1916: The ACCA and ACCN Elders hold reunification talks. It was decided that while the doctrine remained the same, cultural differences, including some ACCN churches using organs would cause division. It was decided upon to be "Sister Churches." Elders still meet yearly, and as of 2012 some elders in cities with both branches keep in touch throughout the year.

1932 The Christian Apostolic Church splits off of the ACCA(and ACCN?). This started in Germany around 1901, and was ignited in the US by the same elder that flamed the fire of the 1904-1907 Split. 1932 Elder Notes

1933 Emil Hari removed from pulpit in Portland. Reinstated by CAC elders, and made Cheif Elder. Majority of Oregon ACCA Churches join the CAC.

194? The Nazarean Christian Congregation leaves the mother church in Yugoslavia over disagreements regarding submitting to the Communist government.

194? The ACCA changes from requiring a beard with no Mustache to requesting all members be clean shaven. Some conservative churches allow older members to retain some facial hair because converts had been asked to promise to always keep a beard during their proving, and they did not want to break that vow. The Christian Apostolic, and some ACCN congregations follow their lead.

1955 The Christian Apostolic Church splits after a power struggle between Elders. Their mother church retains their tie to Germany and Switzerland is renamed The German Apostolic Christian Church. This resulted in multiple Christian Apostolic Churches, made up of members that had been removed in the power struggle. Some of these came together as a new group under their previous name.

1960 The Blacktop church leaves the German Church

1968 The Blacktop Group Joined the CA Church

? The ACCN Splits into eastern and western conferences over Church Discipline.

2000 The ACCA Churches that still used the Evangelical Baptist name were rebranded as ACCA Churches

2002 NCC Splits into sides A&B.

2012 The Apostolic Christian Faith church leaves the ACCA.

2013-? ACCA Elders review traditions and doctrines to clear up misconceptions between the two. This results in some practices such as facial hair, and wedding bands being accepted in moderation. Small numbers move from the ACCA to the ACF and CA, Bluffton and Akron lose members to a new group lead by a former minister.

2019 Robert Hari, Cheif Elder of the GAC passes away. The German language is abandoned, and meetings are opened to all.

2020 The Dubach group joined the CA after discussions with them and the NCC.

The Apostolic Christian Church has divided into multiple smaller denominations over the last 200 years over cultural and doctrinal issues. The First major split around 1900(1932 in the US) created the Christian Apostolic Church. The second split in 1904/7 saw the Apostolic Christian Church of America, and Apostolic Christian Church(Nazarean) split into two different bodies over cultural issues. In 1955 there was a split in the Christian Apostolic Church, resulting in them renaming themselves the German Apostolic Christian Church. Around this time, the ACCN split into Eastern and Western Conferneces over reinstatement issues. in 2002, the NCC split into side A and B. In 2012 there was a division within the ACCA resulting in a group leaving and naming themselves the Apostolic Christian Faith.
