History

[edit]

On May 28, 2003, two ministers from the Ellington, Connecticut congregation held the first worship services in the Grange Hall, in Norwich, VT. A total of forty-nine people were present, including seventeen from the Vermont and New Hampshire areas. By 2005, services were held once per month, with two ministers usually present and fifty to eighty in the congregation. Visitors from Connecticut, New York and Illinois had supported this beginning. A family from Rockville, found employment and moved to the area in 2005 and in 2006 another family moved to Vermont from Kitchener, Ontario. Because of travel times, a Grange Hall in North Clarendon was used for services beginning in December 2006. In 2007, services were increased to 3 times per month. In 2008 more families moved in and services were increased to 4 times per month. In 2023, a building and land were purchased in Castleton, VT and the remodeling of that building took place. On January 21, 2024 the first services were held in our church building at 256 Brown Farm Rd. At this time, the Castleton congregation meets every Sunday for services.
